New York, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2007 -- New York based specialists in the field of cosmetic surgery will hold a one day seminar designed for Plastic Surgeons, Otolaryngologists and Clinicians entitled "Patient Safety in Cosmetic Surgery of the Head and Neck". Discussions will include the most recent advances in ensuring patient safety and emergency practices. Drs. R. Silich (http://www.robertsilichmd.com), L. Reed, N. Schulman and J. Ascherman will conduct this CME credited course at the University Club, New York.

Guest speakers at the event will include the President of the AAAASF Agency, a premier accrediting agency for office based surgical centers in New York State. A panel of experts will present the most recent practices in MRSA prevention and discuss the most recent data on safety issues of eyelid, mandible and facial aesthetic surgery as well as reviewing the new State requirements for accreditation and improvements in safety practices in compliance with State and Federal OSHA and HIPAA standards.

Each speaker will discuss the emerging safety concerns as well as present individual case studies and address how potential problems can be avoided and/or corrected. Attendees will be afforded ample time for questions, discussion and interaction with the panel of experts assembled.

"The State of New York has implemented new requirements for office based surgical centers, so that those who use either general or some local anesthesia are now required to be accredited by State approved agencies. This can be a very long and somewhat confusing process so general guidelines need to be given. This and other vital information will be available at this unique event." said New York Magazine "Best Doctor", Robert Silich, MD.

At the conclusion of this symposium, attendees should have a comprehensive understanding of potential patient safety pitfalls and complications in the most common cosmetic surgery procedures. They will be able to identify, understand and assess patients at high risk for safety problems and possible complications. In addition, they will have a broader understanding of pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative methods and techniques that minimize complications associated with a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures.

Experts will discuss patient safety in breast surgery, rhinoplasty, eyelid and facelift surgery, liposuction and body contouring surgery safety in the use of dermal fillers, lasers and botulinum toxin therapy.
